Canadian Folk Music’s Emerging Artist of the Year winner Noah Derksen follows his critically acclaimed album Sanctity of Silence with the brand-new single Through It All – a heartfelt & expressive song that beautifully showcases Derksen’s highly individual vocal style.

Hailing from the heart of the Canadian Prairies, the Winnipeg based artist wrote Through it All with Boston based Indie, Americana artist Lindsay Foote, before recording it at Toronto’s Revolution Recording studios with producer Murray Pulver (The Bros. Landreth, Crash Test Dummies). Originally recorded for Sirius XM’s Top of the Country competition, the track now gets an official release this summer.

With its tasteful guitar led arrangement, Through It All is a tale of mixed feelings experienced around relationships in which all can seem well & yet still one feels the need to up & leave. With the lyric “We got faults & we got failures, we stumble & we fall, but still you’re the one I love through it all”  Noah expresses eloquently his own personal experiences in the song, while also recognising the unfailing beauty in nature saying that “we wrote this song on a painfully beautiful December morning – the kind where the sun has no business shining so bright & you forget having ever felt sorrow”.

Having grown up playing guitar in the local church band, Noah went on to launch an open-mic night while studying Cognitive Neuroscience at University. Then after seeing Leonard Cohen in concert aged 19, where he was captivated by the power of poetry, Noah started writing songs, seeing the process as a solitary therapeutic outlet while sitting alone in his room. Citing Leonard Cohen, Foy Vance, Ray Lamontagne & Kacey Musgraves as influences, Noah started releasing his own music & touring Canada professionally from 2016.

Since then he’s gone on to tour the Midwest USA supporting Andrea Von Kampen & Marielle Kraft, as well as the Netherlands, Germany & Scandinavia supporting Ariel Posen, and performed at various showcase festivals in North America & Europe.

This Canadian Folk Music Awards Emerging Artist of the Year winner (2021) & Songwriter of the Year nominee (2024) sees his music as an invitation to engage & interact saying “I want to break down the walls that separate audience & performer, singer & listener; to sit in the same room sharing simple conversation while making it through this tumult of life together”. As another string to his bow & being spiritually close to nature, Noah has also spent time planting over one million trees by hand, as a seasonal tree-planter on Canada’s west coast.

With a new album set for release in 2025, Noah Derksen continues to play live this year with appearances at Live from The Rock (Red Rock, Canada) in August, a tour of Eastern Canada this autumn plus a tour of Europe in the New Year.
